Description

This article will cover what the Endpoint Backup Server product is.

The Details

Endpoint Backup Server is designed specifically to run on server operating systems to back up the files stored on local, attached, or network drives.

Endpoint Backup Server always runs in service mode, which ensures that it's constantly backing data up, even on unattended devices.

Endpoint Backup Server requires the following minimum specifications:

  • Intel i5 or later
  • 8GB RAM
  • Windows 7 SP1 or later
  • 2GB available hard disk space
  • We recommend the following specifications:
    • Intel i7 or later
    • 16GB RAM
    • Windows Server 2008 R2 or later
    • 2GB available hard disk space

Take into consideration the other processes running on the machine hosting the Endpoint Backup Server, and ensure that sufficient resources are available for optimal operation.

Endpoint Backup Server requirements are directly correlated to usage (which determines throughput). For smaller deployments, with low to moderate throughput, the minimum specifications may be adequate. A large scale deployment with high numbers of Endpoint Backup users and frequent file modifications may need more powerful hardware and/or multiple Endpoint Backup Server installations.

Endpoint Backup Server requires excellent throughput to local storage. If possible, install Endpoint Backup Server on the local storage device. Alternatively, we recommend that you use a dedicated machine to run Endpoint Backup Server and ensure a high-speed, stable Ethernet connection to the local storage.
